Is Sexuality Fluid?

Written by Matilda Adu, BA | Jun 16, 2018 4:07:00 AM
We are living in a society that is more open to things than ever before. Men are physically changing into women and women into men. Black and white answers, regarding sexuality, no longer exist because we are very fluid individuals.

Traditionally, men are attracted to women, and vice versa, which it is considered heterosexual. Today, men who are attracted to women may not be heterosexual because they could identify as female, male, or both. And a lot of the time, individuals find themselves attracted to more than one classification of people. The term bisexual is being attracted to both men and women. The term pansexual is being attracted to people in general. There are no limits to who, where, when, or why you are attracted to someone. There are some women, who classify as heterosexual, that only watch lesbian pornography. Does this mean they are considered lesbian? Or are they fluid enough to understand they are attracted to more than just men?

A lot of the time, people do not want to deconstruct or “undo” the thought process they have had their entire lives about who they will end up with and what their lives will look like. Don’t be afraid to explore what you like in fear of being judged or classified into a group of people you cannot identify with. If you like women one day and then men the next day, do not feel uncomfortable. You can’t help what you’re attracted to.

By opening up to a fluid sexuality, you may be surprised at the discoveries you find.
